Creating this blog was not hard. The challenging part was getting the PC to read the network and coordinating screens to complete tasks like setting up my avatar. (I was working off Safari and I am used to Firefox. Also, I was going between my macbook and the SBISD Dell laptop- not the best choice at the time.)
Now that I have my avatar I am ready to go.
This is not my first blog so I just need to keep track of blogs and wikis. I know my technology applications students would love to have an avatar. Maybe it would be good when we discuss social networking and the images they want to post.
Anyway- welcome to my newest world. :-)
Could you explain your first sentence a little...what problems did you experience specifically? I have encountered a few issues recently with IE and have had to switch and use Firefox or Google Chrome to see text in some of the blog posts.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to what you will share with us from your technology background
P.S. Please include the Tool # in the title of each of your postings...
ReplyDeleteCheryl, you just gave me an idea of how students would use thier own avatar once they made it. I would have a project for them creating a blog of himeself/herself as representation of a cetain physicist and then communicating ideas, discoveries, acheivments of thiers.
ReplyDeleteYou gave me an idea as well, Cheryl. My students could create avatars with French names that speak French (at least with a French accent).
ReplyDeleteThats a neat idea Anya. While other software may provide more visual customization, the addition of the avatar being able to speak could be integrated nicely by the scientist hacing to speak about their contributions to the science world. Playing with the different voices, they could even give the scientist the appropriate accent based on where they reside ;)
ReplyDeleteCheryl - you continue to enter many worlds, as you said. Your avatar has a bit of likeness to you - was this intentional?
ReplyDeleteMarialice- I might change it a bit later but for now I like it looking a bit like me. :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on keeping track of multiple blogs and wikis. I understand the district can't always coordinate eerything across the board, but it's frustrating to create another new blog when I just created one last month for T3!
ReplyDeleteI can see how students would love to create their own avatar. I know I had fun creating mine. This is my introduction to blogging and I am interested in using and maintaining more than one blog with my students. I wonder how time consuming this could become?
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head when you talked about keeping up with all of the multiple blogs and wikis that we have created. I would love to figure out a streamlined way to do this, because at this point I am at a loss at how to do it! Between SBISD and grad school asking me to create all of these things, I am swimming in this technology stuff. LOL!
ReplyDeleteSo true Amy! Are we going to have anyone monitoring from the district in addition to ourselves?
